Sermermiut Hike

Findings has shown that Sermermiut has been inhabited on and off from 2500 bc to approx. mid 1850’s, both Saqqaq, Dorset and Inuit. The area is UNESCO World Heritage area, and one of the must-see spots in Ilulissat.

We start from our office and drive to our starting point of the hike near Kangiata Illorsua, The Icefiord center, from here we follow the wodden trail all the way to Nakkaavik. We take the same path back.

On the walk, the guide will talk about the different arctic people that has been living in this part of the Diskobay, traditions and beliefs. Some that you still find important in a modern Greenlandic family today, all depending on where in our country.

We recommend practical and warm clothing. A bottle with water and maybe even a thermos with something hot to drink, a snack for the pocket.
